Hazel · History: toys then and now

Kwame broke Grandad's robot. Nobody knows. Yet.

Kwame is so proud to take Grandad's old wind-up robot in for the class toy museum, until he drops it at the school gate and the key snaps. He hides the broken key and says nothing. But everyone wants to see the robot walk, and when it won't, his best friend Ellis gets the blame. Now Kwame has to decide what to do, and Grandad has a secret of his own about that key.

For teachers: Fits history work on toys then and now, and gives children real feelings to read with: guilt, worry and relief.

Format: Classroom book (three episodes) and three home reading booklets.
